A Little About our Lead Fishing Sinkers In the production of our lead fishing sinkers we use the very best raw materials and components available. Though the lead used in our fishing sinkers is derived from industrial scrap we strive to keep our percentage of pure lead in our finished lead fishing sinkers to as close to 100% as possible. We are very careful when purchasing our raw lead scrap and I personally inspect each and every lot that comes into our lead fishing sinker manufacturing facility. We accept no low quality lead mixtures that could adversely affect the final quality of our sinkers. The lower the percentage of pure lead used to make lead fishing sinkers, the harder and less durable they are. Hard Casting of lead fishing sinkers is different from using hard lead in the production of lead fishing sinkers. We use the technique, which has to do with mold versus lead temperatures, in the production of all our 8 Oz. lead barrel sinkers and most of our lead bank fishing sinkers and other sizes of our lead egg fishing sinkers. The technique produces a more durable lead fishing sinker and therefore allows you to catch more fish using our Egg, Barrel, and Bank or Stick type fishing sinkers. The eyelets used in the production of our stick type lead sinkers are 100% brass rod custom formed to fit our molds. They are expensive, but are much less subject to corrosion. The stick type lead sinker can be used for a variety of purposes. We refer to them as buoy weights in our area of the Gulf Of Mexico as many of our commercial and charter fishermen use them as a visual reference to mark their fishing spots with a buoy when targeting grouper and snapper using our other lead fishing weights. Our customers off the East coast of the US use the lead stick weights for deep drop fishing for a variety of deepwater specie. Recently, we have received orders from captains in Alaska who tell us that our design of lead stick fishing weights don’t seem to hang up so badly as what they were using while fishing for halibut. Our lead fishing sinkers are packed in double thick, Bulwark bags of 10# each. In some cases the lead fishing sinkers cast depending on size will not weigh out at exactly 10# per bag and in those cases (20 Oz. Banks are a good example) we mark the bags in pounds and ounces of exactly what is in the bag. You can always rest assured that you will get AT LEAST the weight marked on every bag of any of our lead fishing sinkers. We use State of Florida certified scales when weighing any of our fishing sinkers. Remember to take those kids fishing |
